Monitor suggestions

Hi all.

I currently run a MSI Optix MAG322CQR monitor.

I am currently interested in perhaps upgrading due to a recent issue I have noticed which is weird colour smearing when playing games like farthest frontier etc. from my searching it's just a downside of a VA panel.

Is there any suggestions on an upgrade for this? I am UK based and ideally would love to keep my budget below £400 or near to. I am not interested in OLED but I really appreciate vibrant colouration in my games. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would be looking for 4K higher refresh rates or 1440p higher refresh rates and it will need to be 32".

My current panel seems to be highly rated so I find it hard to let go if it's just a good monitor

Since you dislike the VA panel smearing and prioritize vibrant colors for games, a good upgrade option would be a monitor with an IPS panel. Here are two possibilities within your budget (around £400):

  • 1440p with High Refresh Rate: Look for a 1440p IPS panel with a refresh rate of 144Hz or higher. This offers a good balance between resolution and smoothness, ideal for both FPS games and titles like "Farthest Frontier." The AOC Agon AG322QCX is a good option to consider.
  • 4K with Lower Refresh Rate: If you prioritize sharp visuals, a 4K IPS panel might be suitable. However, achieving high frame rates in 4K with a 7900XTX can be demanding. Consider a monitor like the Gigabyte G32QC8B – it offers great colors but has a 60Hz refresh rate, which might be less ideal for fast-paced FPS games like Halo.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on your preference. If you value smooth gameplay highly, prioritize a 1440p high refresh panel. If stunning visuals are a must, a 4K IPS panel could be great, but keep in mind potential limitations in frame rates for demanding games.
