Despite the number of intriguing use cases I found for the S9 Ultra, it’s a niche device that won’t make sense for most people, largely because of the price. That’s not a bad thing; niche devices exist for a reason, and some people will be well-served by this massive tablet. But $1,200 for the S9 Ultra (plus $200 for the keyboard case, or $350 if you want an integrated trackpad) is a ton of money to spend unless you have very specific ideas on how you’ll use this tablet.

From a hardware perspective, the S9 Ultra is an outstanding tablet. But it really needs to replace your laptop at this price, and the limitations of Android prevent that from being realistic for most people.

Samsung's Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is your best bet if you're after the biggest tablet display around. With a 14.6-inch AMOLED panel, it's perfect for entertainment and productivity alike. That said, its extra large footprint can make it difficult to hold, and the $1,200 starting price is sure to turn off plenty of potential buyers.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is a nominal upgrade over its predecessor, but its expansive 14.6-inch display, fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-driven performance and functionality as a pseudo-laptop still impress. However, its high cost could make you consider getting a cheaper tablet (or laptop) instead.

Ultimately, if money is no object and you want all the bells and whistles, from the 120-Hz screen and the AMOLED panel to the in-display fingerprint sensor and included stylus, then you'll have no regrets with the Tab S9 series. I think the best move is to buy a model from last year's Tab S8 series at a discounted price.
