While it doesn't deliver the even more voluminous sound of the Era 300, which also cost $449, it can fill a small- to medium-size room with sound and is easy to carry out to the patio or pool, where it makes for an excellent outdoor wireless speaker that delivers almost as much volume and bass as some of the larger boombox-style Bluetooth speakers. It's an impressive portable speaker.

The Move 2 sounds infinitely better than its predecessor thanks to smart internal architecture and a switch from mono to stereo. Connectivity also works much quicker and is more stable now that the Move 2 is capable of seamlessly holding Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals at once.

The Sonos Move 2 has carved its niche as a feature-packed portable wireless speaker, but there are better-performing rivals at this premium price point.

As a complete package, the Move 2 is a slam-dunk sequel that will only get better when you factor in Sonos’ long-term software support. The company needed to draw on lessons learned from other products to get here, but anyone who loved the first Move will find even greater value in its successor.

Not for the first time, I get the strong impression that Sonos is preaching to the converted. Listeners who are already invested in the Sonos ecosystem (and why wouldn’t you be?) will enjoy the punchy, detailed nature of its sound almost as much as the complete ease with which the Move 2 will slip into their existing system.
