With its 4K resolution, HDR10 compatibility, G-Sync, and 120Hz refresh rate, the Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ feels like a monitor from the future. Its bezels may be retro-thick, but everything contained within them is impressively built. Unfortunately, without a graphics card from the future to power it, you’re going to be paying a high premium for a combination of resolution and refresh rates you can’t make good use of anytime soon. Despite the jaw-dropping beauty of HDR gaming, it would be wise to wait until we have more games that support it and more powerful GPUs to choose from before committing so large a slice of your budget to a panel like this.
While we can't recommend most people shell out the $2000 on this display, those who have the money to spare won't be disappointed with the experience. It's the best monitor you can buy, we just wish more of us COULD buy it.
I’m glad the Asus PG27UQ exists, and has finally been launched, but mostly because it means the next-generation of 4K G-Sync HDR will come all the sooner, not because it’s the ultimate, money-no-object gaming monitor we’d hoped for.
The Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ is a phenomenal gaming monitor, thanks to the Nvidia G-Sync HDR technology inside it, but its high price tag will put people off.
