Dell XPS 14 - 2024

The new Dell XPS 14 is a boost for the range, with a hybrid approach that stands out from the crowd. There’s plenty of processing power with enough graphics chops to be a decent option for entry-level PC gaming. The stylish design is intriguing but may not be for everyone while an underwhelming battery life undermines the total package.

The 2024 model of the XPS 14 (codename 9440) tries to be the porridge in the middle: more powerful than the XPS 13, but smaller than the XPS 16. It works, especially with the gorgeous OLED screen option. But the screen is let down somewhat by a single lacklustre GPU option. It’s a compromise, and most users may be better off making a choice between small or powerful.

Dell's XPS 14 is one of today's classiest compact laptops, bolstered by an optional Nvidia GeForce GPU, lengthy battery staying power, and a sharp webcam—but it's neither the lightest nor most affordable in its class.

The Dell XPS 14 offers excellent performance and graphics packed into a sci-fi design you’ll fall in love with for roughly 10 hours per charge, but I’m still upset about its dull display.

The XPS 14 9440's minimalistic look and solid build will certainly appeal to design-centric creative types, who will also make good use of the strong overall performance of the Core Ultra processor and RTX 4050 graphics.

The Dell XPS 14 features a gorgeous 14.5-inch OLED display upgrade, a minimalist design and enough power for everyday work and mid-range gaming. Though it lacks physical function keys and a visible touchpad, it’s still an overall great Windows laptop — if you can look past its controversial design.

The Dell XPS 14 has a lot to offer, from a great screen to good performance for its size and form factor. At the same time, the keyboard and touch function buttons don't quite cut it compared to other laptops, and you'll need to spend a fair bit to get a laptop with rather middling graphical performance.
