Sony Alpha A9

Overview

Pros & Cons

Reviews

Similar To

Price: $3,498

The A9 is the third Sony mirrorless camera designed to appeal to professional photographers. Whereas the A7R II targeted landscape photographers with its huge 42 megapixel resolution and the A7S II clearly appealed to videographers, the Sony A9's sheer speed makes it a serious rival to the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II and Nikon D5, two well-established cameras that have long dominated the sports/action segment of the professional market.

The Sony A9 offers great performance in terms of maximum burst speed and AF tracking. The camera, despite its dual SD card slots, does not offer card rollover and limits only one slot to UHS compliance. For the price, the camera is an impressive camera,...

Yes—but only if you're a professional who needs it.While Sony's A7-series cameras have offered a tantalizing glimpse into Sony's vision for the future, they always seemed to be missing that extra bit of polish. Creaky lens mounts, a pokey autofocus...

The Sony Alpha 9 (or A9 for short) is a high-speed full-frame mirrorless camera that’s designed to go head to head with Canon and Nikon’s flagship professional DSLRs. It’s capable of shooting 24MP images at 20 frames per second while keeping focus on...

Recent market statistics confirm that mirrorless cameras represent the only sector of the 'serious' camera market that is showing any real growth. The α9 is smaller and faster than either the Canon 1DX Mk II or Nikon D5 and its high ISO images are...
