Kogan Agora 4G

If “unlocked” and “4G” are your primary reasons for buying a phone, then we’d advise checking out the Agora 4G, since it offers doses of both for not too much cash.

There are better 4G phones to be found, but none of them come close to the low price tag on the Kogan Agora 4G.

If you want a flagship phone, you know your options. If you want a Smartphone and need to get bang for your buck – this fits that category.

The Agora 4G is the best budget smartphone to come out of Kogan yet. It feels more refined than its predecessors in spite of being laden in plastic. Top-tier features, such as a large screen and 4G internet, coupled with the low $229 price, make it an attractive proposition indeed.

If you want a competent Android phone and don't want to pay $500 or $600 or more for the privilege, an small but growing group of phones in the $150 to $250 range are coming out of the woodwork to suit your needs. Given that even the US carriers are slowly moving away from subsidies (and that many markets worldwide never relied on them in the first place), that's got to be scary for any company making most of its money from more expensive phones.

So it seems that Kogan’s claim of having the cheapest 4G phone on the market in Australia right now holds up. Pretty spectacularly too, I must say. Whenever I pick up a cheap Android handset, I imagine the things I’d rather live with on a day-to-day basis than the device in question.
