Jurassic Park in particular doesn't suit this design because flattening the mechanics removes all notions of tension from the game, an essential part of the film series. Lego Jurassic Park is a nice, pleasant nostalgia trip, but it won't be long before you're asking to leave.

Lego Jurassic World is neither the most ambitious of the Lego games (that honor goes to Lord of the Rings) nor the most polished (Marvel Super Heroes).

Lego Jurassic World is a dull, occasionally frustrating experience with a lot of cute nods to the series for hardcore fans. That’s as good as it gets. From the puzzles to the combat to the exploration, everything feels less ambitious and entertaining than other recent Lego titles. The basic mechanics still work, but the gameplay feels like a leap back in time.

If you have an affinity for any of the four films recapped within, LEGO Jurassic World will be a worthwhile visit. Seeing the series' iconic moments recreated with cute figurines is a treat, and each of the four campaigns is fast-paced enough that completing the entire franchise in its brick-based form will only take roughly seven to eight hours, which is not much longer than the combined film running times (and amounts to brisk mini-campaigns of two hours or less each).

It is, as a whole package, uninspiring. It is also, as a whole package, still quite a lot of fun to play through, the sort of thing that's not too long to actually finish (unless you want to 100% it) and definitely a game that younger players - and fans of Jurassic World - will love to work their way through in co-op.
