Stormblood tells an intriguing tale of resistance and rebellion, with well-defined characters, exciting dungeons, and awe-inspiring new classes, but leans just a bit too heavy on the...

Its failings - the stratospheric hump players must overcome to reach the game proper, the often long queue times to before you're often able to even play, and those interminable, vacuous side-missions - are as much genre failings as failings specific to this game. Forgive these anachronistic impositions, and Stormblood is a rich and rewarding sojourn, as well as a bright, timely reminder of how and why Final Fantasy became such a success in the first place.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood is an exceptional expansion that unfortunately refuses to take any risks. We’re not talking purely about the progression of dungeons, trials and leveling, but Square Enix’s unwillingness to try anything new or audacious with the story. They also refuse to commit on specific plot elements, turning Stormblood more into a fan service anime rather than a deep and meaningful adventure.

While Final Fantasy 14's expansion Heavensward brought a tide of questions about the MMORPG's longevity, there was far less community concern with Stormblood. In fact, Early Access was so popular that the servers couldn't handle everyone who had shelled...

I haven't completed the final battle in the Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood expansions' main story line. The titular quest has been sitting in the top left corner of my screen for a week, and I've been doing everything I can to ignore it. I don't want it...

Having played Final Fantasy XIV since the very first 1.0 E3 demo nearly a decade ago, it would take me ages to describe how much it's evolved.I've seen it go from a tepid little thing that was somehow a step down from XI in every way to a monstrous...
