The Asus PG42UQ is fantastic for gaming. It has a near-instantaneous response time that makes motion look extremely smooth. It also has low input lag with high-frame-rate signals, but it increases with 60 fps signals, so it isn't ideal for some console games. Speaking of which, it takes full advantage of the PS5 and Xbox Series X thanks to its HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, and it also has VRR support to reduce screen tearing. Lastly, it's fantastic for dark room gaming as it displays deep blacks without any blooming.

The ASUS ROG Swift PG42UQ is an amazing gaming monitor. The choice between it and LG’s 42″ C2 TV comes down to the user’s personal preference regarding screen coating and exclusive features, as well as pricing and availability.

Overall, this is a wonderful monitor, with vibrant colors and deep, dark blacks flowing from the screen's surface. Aside from the superb HDR display for a monitor and the still unique combination of 4k and 138 Hz on OLED, the image quality of the PG42UQX is very good; it can be tweaked/setup to get it perfect. It is color calibrated rather well at default mode (racing) with a Delta close to one in superb color spaces. Yeah, it's lovely for sub-1500 bucks.
