Gigabyte Aorus 15G XB

The Gigabyte Aorus 15G is an expensive gaming laptop, featuring a powerful performance, high refresh rate and a mechanical keyboard to please the hardcore gaming crowd. On the flip side, the lack of 4K support means you’ll be stuck with a rather outdated resolution moving forward without a secondary display, but I personally found the excellent 240Hz display to be a worthwhile compromise in the end as someone with a love for high-performance over picture quality.

Unlike the best cheap gaming laptops, the Aorus 15G isn't an amazing deal. However, it is competitively priced given its eight-core Intel processor, upper-midrange RTX 2070 Super with Max-Q GPU and everything else you're getting. Spending the extra money translates into system longevity in this case: There's plenty of headroom for games now and in the future. You may want to eventually upgrade the memory and install an additional SSD, though, unless you enjoy regularly uninstalling games to make room. Of course, you're not just paying for components.

This is a powerful, beautifully crafted and feature-packed gaming laptop. However, there are a few minor niggles - fan noise, Wi-Fi oddities - but we otherwise thoroughly enjoyed using this machine for its fast-refresh screen when gaming and strong battery life when not.

The looks won’t be for everyone and the price is fairly high, but if you’re after the fastest gaming laptop money can buy then a hefty price tag goes with the territory. Unless the Razer Blade 15 can steal its thunder with some canny UK pricing, the Aorus 15G looks set to keep its middleweight gaming crown for some time to come.

The Aorus 15G is a well-designed workhorse, there’s no doubt about it. At $2,199, it’s clearly an investment, but a smart one. From the keyboard to the cooling system, to its strong performance, the Aorus 15G is a winner and one of my favorite gaming laptops to date.

The Aorus 15G is not cheap. But it offers one of the best gaming experience on a laptop now, thanks to its mechanical keyboard, smooth display and excellent performance.
