Harman Kardon BT

All in all, there are many reasons to like the Harman Kardon BTs. They can't quite face up to similarly priced wired-only rivals such as the AKG 550, but then again the Bluetooth headphone market is still relatively young. For what they are, the aptX-toting BTs fly the flag for Bluetooth headphones.

Harman Kardon did an awesome job at building a set of headphones that appeal to today’s tech enthusiasts: distinguished design, Bluetooth with built-in audio controls and mic, long battery life with optional pass-through cable, and great sound.

If Bluetooth is a priority, the BT is a great choice, particularly if you own an aptX-compatible device. But if sound quality is more important, the CL is an excellent entrée into high-fidelity headphones, with a good DAC and amp offering even greater sonic possibilities.

However, if you’re looking for an easy to use pair of wireless headphones that are comfortable and have great battery life, in addition to having great audio, then you’d be hard pressed to find something as stylish and well built in this price range. harman/kardon’s first outing is surely remarkable, but not without flaws.

The BT is pleasingly comfortable in use. The relatively light weight and separate headband and headphone band are features that make the BT easy to have on your head for long periods. The actual amount of physical traction that the BT exerts on your head is less than some other portable designs.

At a time when rival smartphone platforms share precious little in the way of “cross party” features, Bluetooth stands out as a format that has universal support - albeit with slightly different levels of flexibility. As standards have improved,...
