GoPro Hero 10 Black

GoPro’s latest flagship action camera packs an all-new processor and a supercharged set of specs.

Beefed up internals make the Hero 10 Black a nippy, powerful, polished action cam – and a slow-mo fiend.

The GoPro Hero10 Black looks the same as last year’s model, but boasts a faster processor, better image stabilization, and higher resolutions.

It doesn't reinvent the action camera, but the Hero 10 Black is a much more user-friendly and refined version of its predecessor – which makes it the most versatile action cam you can buy. The new slo-mo frame-rates and wired data transfer modes are useful, while the snappier interface and small image quality improvements make it an enjoyable waterproof companion for adventures and b-roll footage. Its rivals now offer larger sensors and better value, though.

The Hero10 remains a great action camera because of its size, durability, and 5.3K 60fps abilities. There is simply no other camera this size that is this powerful, and if you currently own a Hero8 or older, the Hero10 will feel like a huge upgrade. But I don’t think it’s a big enough leap forward for Hero9 users unless you need that buttery 5.3K 60fps or have to have the latest and greatest.

The Hero 10 is the fastest and most powerful Hero camera I've tested, but if you already have the Hero 9 … that's still a very capable camera. If you've got an even older Hero and are looking to upgrade, the Hero 10 is definitely worth it. Those of you with a Hero 8 will find the jump to a Hero 10 to be a significant upgrade.

It’s a familiar ending here, then. The new camera takes everything that’s working and builds on it. Especially in the areas that matter: Image quality and shooting modes. That’s all we can really ask for. The fact that there are many other usability tweaks is just an added bonus. The apparent dip in battery life, while not ideal, will only really be an issue if you use those new frame rates as standard. As for the price, we’d love for it to have stayed the same as last year’s launch, but the increase isn’t into unrealistic territory.
