In a move that will give small businesses access to suepr fast Internet connectivity, Google has launched Fiber for Small Business. The rollout has begun with an Early Access Program in select areas of Kansas City for $100/month.

The service is currently only available in a handful of neighborhoods (or "fiberhoods", as the company is calling them), in Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO. Here is the area covered in the former:

And this is the area covered in the latter:

Small businesses in these areas can sign up for Google's high speed Internet service, while others can register for email updates to get details on when the company expands the service to their area. Although Google said it has expansion plans, it didn't share details on where and when.

Considering the fact that the Google Fiber service, which offers Internet connections at one gigabit per second, about 100 times faster than typical broadband connections, is available to residential customers in the area for $70 per month, the business price seems reasonable.

A company spokesperson told Kansascity.com that Fiber for Small Business will offer businesses the ability to buy one to five static IP addresses for an extra $20 or $30 a month, making it easier for them to run dedicated servers to host websites. In addition, companies also will be able to use their own Internet routers.
