Dell has officially pulled the curtain on a new tablet designed for the corporate market as well as healthcare and education workers. The Latitude ST strays from the Android crowd and instead runs Windows 7 Professional powered by an Intel Atom Z670 processor clocked at 1.5GHz while offering up to 128GB of storage.

The Latitude ST has a 10.1-inch screen with a 1366 x 768 resolution and support for both touch and pen input. Specs are scarce on Dell's website but from the promo video and leaked information we can tell the tablet features Wi-Fi, mobile broadband options, front and rear webcams and a mic. Ports include full-size USB, HDMI and SD slots, while on the security front there's a remote wipe function, Kensington lock compatibility and Microsoft Bitlocker support.

A docking station will be available with additional USB, HDMI and RJ45 inputs, so you can add a mouse, keyboard, projector and more to make the tablet work like a full-fledged PC.

Dell says the new tablet can be tailored to specific business or end user needs with certified applications and professional services. It will integrate with desktop virtualization solutions, the company's Electronic Medical Records and Mobile Clinical Computing solutions, as well as their Connected Classroom solution for education environments.

The Latitude ST will reportedly offer seven hours of battery life and weight starts at 1.8 pounds (816 grams). Pricing and availability details are unclear at this point but an announcement is expected on November 1.
