What just happened? Remember when you heard that Twilight’s Robert Pattinson was going to be the new Batman? Most people were skeptical that he could do justice to the icon DC character, but a new teaser suggests he can look the part, at least.

For most Batman fans, there’ll never be anyone who can match Christian Bale. Ben Affleck certainly didn’t, so now it’s Pattinson’s turn to take on the role. Matt Reeves, director of the upcoming movie, has shared a screen test of the actor wearing the Batsuit, which has a real handmade look.

With its red-tinged lighting and moody music, which comes from Michael Giacchino, the clip has a real Daredevil feel. When Reeves confirmed to fans that the score was the work of the American composer, he tweeted: “Wait till they hear it ALL...!”

Reeves is best known for the remake of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes. He was also behind the camera for creature feature Cloverfield and Let Me In, an excellent remake of Swedish vampire movie Let the Right One In.

Reaction to the clip has been mostly positive on social media, with many people tweeting that they can’t wait for the movie’s arrival on June 25, 2021. The biggest criticism seems to be that Pattinson is too skinny for the part.

'The Batman' also stars Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, and Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson.

Pattinson seems to have left his sparkling vampire past behind, thanks to his roles in movies that are “a bit perverse and a bit crazy.” He won critical acclaim for The Lighthouse and has the potential to become a great, and very different, batman.

How about...I dunno...coming up with something new and original ?
That might require producers to scour hundreds of new idea scripts, and think about the possibility of success and cost, for each one. That's rare these days in Hollywood.

I'm going to have to say that Michael Keaton was better than Christian Bale.

IMO, Christopher Nolan's Batman movies are a tough act to match. Though Keaton may have been good, the movies were far too campy for me.

IMO, the Planet of the Apes movies mentioned were superb. I just hope that this particular iteration of Batman is as good as those Planet of the Apes movies.

Honestly, though, I am rather tired of remake after remake after remake; to me, it seems to be an excuse for lack of creativity.

Wow, that's darker than the Game of Thrones episode everyone complained about.
Don't fret. I am sure they will employ the latest in HDR technology - especially for theaters that are still in the dark ages and have no way to show HDR.

Robert Pattinson - an actor more wooden than a rain forest. Every movie he's in he just pouts his way through from start to finish.

A seizure free movie trailer in the 21st century? Pinch me, I must be dreaming! On the flip side I have to rate the trailer 1 out of 5 stars. So a seizure-free experience doesn't necessarily equate to an incredible movie trailer. But it does allow me to finish watching the trailer from beginning to end.

Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight? No, maybe as Robin? Yes. Maybe as Terry McGinnis in the Batman Beyond universe? Yes, but as the traditional Dark Knight? No.

I think the trilogy with Christian Bale was by far the best iteration of Batman. I never even cared for any of the previous batman movies. The trilogy with Bale was well directed, had excellent storylines, and was actually enjoyable.
