Introducing TechSpot Elite: an optional subscription to remove ads, plus other benefits

Just purchased the Elite special for members, where do I get the store discount? When I add to cart there is no discount... :(

How about more games benchmarks (RDR2, Jedi Fallen Order, Mechwarrior V, etc...), more overclocking (CPU and GPU) benchmarks, heck even CPU or GPU coolers (air and water) reviews are good too.

PS: Monitor reviews are very good, please keep it up.

Is there a way to make a contribution that doesn't requiere a subscription? I ad-block (sorry about that, but hey, I learnt about ad blockers and many other things from you guys) and I don't think a monthly subscription is something I'd take advantage of, but I'd still like to make an anual donation. If such way doesn't exist, I'll whitelist the website from the ad blocker.
It's been ages since I stumbled upon TS, and liked it ever since, anyone can see the effort done behind the website in all the quality content and the way you put it, simple, plain and neat. Thanks for all the good hard work!

Thank you
There's a solution to what you ask. I've done it for other sites/services and that's the beauty of relying on a trusted third-party like PayPal (we don't get your financial info). You can subscribe for a year. Get the benefits. And then on PayPal's side, cancel the automated renewal after a year. You won't get billed a year later, and the subscription will be over after that period, too.

Nah. If you put your crap behind a paywall or ad network, then it either gets filtered off as junk or the ads get blocked anyway. I already pay for enough crap that still pushes ads at me. I can't even go down the street to pay for a pizza without some employee there trying to get me to let him "clean my car's headlights for $100." WTF? I'm ordering pizza...leave me the hell alone. No need to pay for more ads or the supposed lackthereof. You can either provide news like everyone else on the web or get filtered off. There are plenty of other sites and news-wannabes that will take place of this one if need be.

If people want journalism they need to pay for it, either accept ads or pay up.

LOL! Nope. Haven't done it since the advent of the public internet, and I have no intention of doing it now. You can certainly "My way or the highway," and I'll just go another way. I can simply go to one of 100 other sites for the same news. If you can't fund your employees like a real news agency, then don't bother acting like you're real journalists.

I’d subscribe for $1 a month with ads removed and no badging/extra features if that generates you more revenue than ads do. But the ads are fine and I unblock TechSpot on every browser as far as I’m aware.

Bye then.

You realize how stupid that comment is right? Firstly, we covered all the 5700 XT AIB cards we possibly could at the request of viewers, we’re not going to invest time and money covering products people aren’t interested in.

Secondly, it was a great opportunity to do something we hadn’t been able to do before, cover an entire range of products and compare them side by side. This led to a number of discoveries that will and have already improved the industry.

We had a product pulled from market after exposing how bad it was and we were the only media outlet globally to expose that product. We also saw two more get fixed, and somehow you consider that to be sponsored content! ?‍♂️

This attitude right here is why you shouldn't waste your money folks. This was a response to a an actual subscriber. You can get more professional journalism elsewhere.

I’ve literally been banned from a news site because I suggested in one comment that the article writer quote the source of their article with the relevant comment instead of only quoting their older article where they had a tip months prior. There are really unprofessional journalists elsewhere, but there’s nothing wrong with defending an opinion.

I've experienced the same. No way am I paying for the "privilege" to view someone's opinion. There are tons of sites like this out there already. Even if they all went to this model, I would find another way to spend my time/money. Many paying citizens have already had their personal data and browsing habits thrown around with no compensation, so hell no.

haha...thank you for noticing some oddity at work here, before my post get "moderated" again I'm glad that someone took notice.
Basically what I liked about HUB was their AAA games benchmarking with 50+ GPU and various enthusiast overclocking contents. So I became Patreon support and guess what, 4 months of 5700XT coverage that no one who had a 1080 Ti or faster is any remotely interested in.

Now what I would really like to see were The Outer Worlds, COD Modern Warfare with RTX, Wolfensten Youngblood with RTX, Mechwarriors V being benchmarked instead of these garbage 5700XT being reviewed every now and then (people were returning their 5700XT left and right LOL).

On top are the GT 1xxx and 9xx series, with the 1060 and 1050(ti) leading the pack.

Amazon had shown XFX at the top of their best seller list ten days in a row. 5700 XT's and RX580/590's. Along with a gaggle of 1080p monitors.

I don't really have it right now. I allow ads from certain partners which I adjusted. The journalism is fine. What I would like to see is a hierarchy list of CPU's and GPU's which I can later refer to for builds and repairs. The benefit that would be most of interest to me is the store discount, which I haven't really looked at.

Please guys, remain on topic.

Thanks for all your comments and for those who find value in subscribing.
As before, we have made it optional by design. We are just as happy if you keep coming back to read our articles, comment and don't ad block

I see myself paying for it... I visit this site every single day so why not... And I don't know what it is but something is changing in me lol the other day I subscribed to a Patreon to support a youtuber that I watch everyday it's a small fee to support the content I enjoy so let's go for it...
Supporting a youtuber its the stupidest thing a person can do
