Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order

Overview

Pros & Cons

Reviews

Price: $100

It’s been ages since we got a great single-player Star Wars action game, but Jedi: Fallen Order makes up for a lot of lost time. A strong cast sells a dark story while keeping things fun and loyal to Star Wars lore, and fast, challenging combat mixes with energetic platforming, decent puzzles, and diverse locations to explore for an all-around amazing game.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the best Star Wars games to date, thanks to intense combat and satisfying exploration and traversal. Despite a mediocre plot and presentation, Cal’s quest to revive the Jedi Order is full of memorable encounters, unique environments and several high-energy boss fights and set piece moments that pushes the Star Wars universe in an exciting new direction.

If we had to pick a word to describe Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order it would be "safe". Beyond its stunning cinematography and emotive sound design, everything else is serviceable, yet perfunctory, without any truly innovative twists. That said, safe...

With an excellent droid companion and entertaining lightsaber combat, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order could have been a truly forceful addition to the franchise. However, navigation problems and unnatural level design takes it back down a darker...

EA Games has a lot riding on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Their use of what is a premium movie licence has not exactly produced stellar results. Whilst Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was a vast improvement on the first game, it still had its issues. For...

Ready to redress the balance is Cal Kestis, a former Jedi Padawan who has suppressed his connection to the Force, as one might activate call forwarding. He is living in hiding, toiling on the ship-breaking yards of Bracca, a planet-sized junk heap....

Jedi: Fallen Order borrows liberally from other games, but a strong supporting cast, clever level design, and a cute little droid companion make Respawn's Star Wars story more than the sum of its parts.

You’re going to occasionally roll your eyes at a cheesy moment or groan at a technical issue, but Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order stands alone as an action game devoid of its Star Wars influence. If you grin at the mere mention of the phrase "kyber crystals," you'll get even more out of it.

Respawn Entertainment's maiden voyage with Star Wars is largely a success, but it's a little rough around the edges.

By GameSpot on November 15, 2019 80

It's true that Fallen Order borrows liberally from other action games, but those elements work together with Respawn's combat and environment design, and a story that finds humanity in the Force and in its characters, to hone in on what makes the world of Star Wars worthy of revisiting again and again. Even with some rough edges, Fallen Order represents one of the most compelling game additions to the Star Wars franchise in years.
