Just Cause 4

Just Cause 4 is still capable of charming me. For all its annoyances, it still says to me, with a mischievous twinkle in its eye, 'Yeah, but do other games let you do this high calibre of silly shit?' Which of course they don't, unless you count previous games in the series. Still delivers the series' sandbox mayhem, but is underserved by some pretty dated combat and design ideas.

Just Cause 4 is an easy-to-play sandbox of chaos with a sprinkling of extreme weather. It holds strong due to an improved grapple and varied tools, and while this explosive sequel won't set the world on fire, you can blow up enough things to make it...

Just Cause 4 is a tale of two games. When left to yourself, the game can be an absolute blast. Calling in powerful weaponry and vehicles to blow up bases of enemies rarely ever gets old. Traversing the distinct biomes while swapping between the wingsuit and parachute remains a fun way to get across the world.

The memories of Just Cause 3 that was released in 2015 are still fresh, and since I still have the game every once in a while I still play it just to see stuff blow up. I've played around 15 hours of Just Cause 4, and if you've enjoyed Part 3 there's a...

Just Cause 4 might not reinvent the wheel, but it does attach rocket boosters and air balloons to it. And maybe a llama or two.

By worthplaying.com on December 08, 2018 70

Set in the fictional South American world of Solis, Just Cause 4 introduces tornadoes and other extreme weather events to the open-world, action/adventure series.

You're given an awesome toolset that paves the way for creativity in a world with too few problems to solve. At a time when open-world games sometimes overstay their welcome, Just Cause 4 is at the other end of the spectrum, where you wish there was more to experience because it has so much going for it.

Avalanche is taking this action series to another level on the back of the Apex engine and extreme weather effects. Is this Rico Rodriguez's best adventure yet?

By IGN on December 04, 2018 79

Just Cause 4 has everything you expect from a Just Cause game, almost to a fault. Relative to Just Cause 3 the improvements are widespread across its beautiful open world, but generally minor. So while blowing up yet another dictator’s army is the same kind of mindless explosive fun and physics-based comedy the series is built on, it doesn’t do much to incorporate the new weather systems or grapple mods into combat. That leaves me with a distinct “more of the same” feeling.

How long will this confection hold together? I don't know. I forget Just Cause games the minute I complete them, and yet the moment the next one appears on the horizon, waving a couple of balloons, I'm back in, boots-first. Rico loves this stuff. I love this stuff. Even Larry, I suspect, sort of loves this stuff too. (Rest in peace, obviously.)

Just Cause 4 is the best entry in the series to date, offering spectacular free-wheeling destruction on a scale that’s not been attempted before. Rico remains one of gaming’s most enjoyable protagonists, but more than ever before, it’s really all about what he’s capable of doing rather than the events unfolding around him.

By God is a Geek on December 04, 2018 80

With its extreme weather scenarios and the familiar, over-the-top usage of Rico’s grapple gun, wingsuit and parachute, Just Cause 4 is the most ridiculous and best it has ever been.

By Update us Now on December 04, 2018 85

In spite of trotting out a premise that’s been done to death, Just Cause 4 remains fresh thanks to its creative gameplay features and varied missions. With explosions aplenty and stunning visuals, there’s little amiss with this over the top entry in the series.

By WindowsCentral on December 04, 2018 100

Featuring a deep and diverse world, addictive action gameplay, and a fantastic new engine, Just Cause 4 is easily the best game in the series, hands down.
