Dell UP2718Q Ultra HD HDR 27"

Overview

The Dell UP2718Q is an exceptional monitor for image quality, and my reviewing skills can’t do it justice as I am not a professional at designer so can’t appreciate the colour reproduction enough. It is comfortably the best monitor I have reviewed for day to day work or watching media, though it isn’t suited for serious gaming at all.

The Dell UltraSharp 27 Premier Color UltraHD 4K HDR performs exceedingly well, is highly customizable, and is easy to use and tune. If you're a content creation professional and would appreciate this monitor's high resolution and accuracy, check the Dell UltraSharp 27 Premier Color UltraHD 4K HDR out. It is an excellent monitor.

The Dell UP2718Q is, for now, a unique monitor. It’s the first zone-dimming backlight we’ve seen in a desktop display, and the first consumer-level panel that can truly do justice to HDR content. Coupled with reasonably accurate color that extends all the way up to Adobe RGB, you’re looking at a high-end mastering screen at a relatively affordable price. $1500 may seem like a lot, but in the professional realm it’s a bargain. Users looking to outfit their Ultra HD video post-production systems may want to give it a serious look.

Dell makes really great monitors in general. The UP2718Q is no exception here and it’s a solid choice if you’re searching for a 4K monitor for your desk. Don’t let the $1999USD price tag scare you too much, Dell has it listed for $1479USD and that’s really a good price for this monitor.

At the moment, HDR implementation is sketchy due to issues on the PS4 Pro and lack of compatible content from the PC side. It pains us to say that an OLED TV is still the best bet if you want to maximize your HDR-ready console, although we are still hopeful of the future for these products.
