Dell has taken what we at TechSpot feel is the best Windows laptop on the market - the Dell XPS 13 - and created a 2-in-1 out of it
Kicking off CES 2017 week in proper fashion is the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, essentially a carbon copy of the original XPS 13 but with a flexible hinge that allows the system to fold back into a tent orientation or all the way back into tablet mode.
Dell's beautiful InfinityEdge 13.3-inch display comes along for the ride in your choice of 1080p or QuadHD+ (3,200 x 1,800) resolutions, as do Intel's seventh-generation Core i5 and i7 Kaby Lake processors. The machine can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM and a sizable 1TB solid state drive.
Connectivity options include two USB 3.0 ports, one of which is of the Thunderbolt variety like the one found on the XPS 13 we gave away last year. There's even a USB-A to USB-C adapter should you need to connect what are quickly becoming legacy peripherals.
The XPS 13 2-in-1 tips the scales at around 2.7 pounds and measures 13.3mm tall, surprisingly thin and light for a system of this size and caliber. Dell says the battery is good for up to 15 hours on a single charge although mileage will no doubt vary depending on use.
The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 will be available starting January 5 priced from $999 on Dell.com and at Best Buy. A worldwide rollout is expected shortly after, we're told.
