Minecraft is already available on pretty much every platform you can imagine --- second only to Doom, which is ported to anything with a screen just for the heck of it. But today the popular open-world sandbox game is expanding even further with an official release on Apple's streaming box.

Minecraft: Apple TV Edition costs $19.99 and comes bundled with seven pieces of DLC to bolster the core world-building game. According to the announcement on Mojang's blog, buyers of Minecraft: Apple TV Edition will receive the Holiday 2015, Town Folk, and City Folk skin packs, plus the Plastic, Natural, Cartoon, and Festive 2016 mash-ups packs. The DLC offer is available "for a limited time".

The Apple TV edition will include the "Ender update" that's just rolling out now to the Pocket Edition (iOS, Android) and Windows 10 Edition, bringing a whole bunch of new single-player content to the game. It is missing a couple of important multiplayer features however, namely Minecraft Realms and Xbox Live support, though Mojang says these will be added "in the near future."  The Apple TV version does support Creative Mode, which offers unlimited resources, and Survival Mode, for some in-game combat action.

Apple has been pushing the Apple TV's gaming capabilities and even sells third party MFi (Made For iOS) gaming controllers in its own store. While there are hundreds of titles available already, including some recognizable ones like Crossy Road and Guitar Hero, Minecraft is perhaps its biggest addition so far.
