In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Sega this past July announced two new Sonic the Hedgehog games at San Diego Comic-Con. One of those games, Sonic Mania, isn't slated to arrive until next spring but that didn't stop Sega from announcing a special Collector's Edition on Twitter earlier today.

The Sonic Mania Collector's Edition, which arrives in a Sega Genesis-style box, includes a 12-inch statue of everyone's favorite hedgehog perched atop a replica of Sega's 16-bit console. Flipping the system's power switch will trigger the familiar "SEEGAA" startup audio - pretty neat.

Buyers also get a metallic collector's card where they'll find the game's digital download code and last but not least, a replica Sega game cartridge with an iconic golden ring on it.

For those not familiar, Sonic Mania is a 2D platformer that harkens back to the days of old with reimagined versions of some of the best zones and acts mixed with a helping of brand new stages. If you loved the gameplay and aesthetics of entries like Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD and Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Mania will be right up your alley.

The Sonic Mania Collector's Edition bundle is available to pre-order as of writing from Amazon priced at $69.99 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The e-commerce giant says the game will launch on May 31, 2017, so you've got plenty of time to make a decision either way.
