Seagate recently introduced a new external hard drive it's calling Innov8. The massive 8TB drive connects to your computer via a single USB Type-C connector, making it the world's first USB-powered desktop hard drive according to the drive maker.

Being able to tote around a drive of this size certainly has its benefits. For one, you won't need to hunt down a free electrical socket to power the drive as it pulls enough energy to operate from the USB connection. What's more, the drive cuts down on the number of cables you'll need to transport and manage as again, it only requires a single USB cable.

Seagate says the 8TB drive can hold more than two million songs, four million photos and 800 HD movies.

The drive includes Seagate's Dashboard software which offers one-click on-demand or customizable, scheduled backups of connected devices. What's more, each drive comes with 200GB of OneDrive cloud storage.

Seagate designed its Innov8 drive in partnership with design firm Hugh-Design. Bill Webb from Hugh-Design said the new drive builds on Seven's success to once again convey the functional beauty of an internal hard drive but with enough capacity to ensure seemingly endless space to store the memories we all love.

The Seagate Innov8 goes on sale next month for $349. It'll be sold through Seagate's website as well as on Amazon and at other retailers.
