When Mirror's Edge dropped in late 2008, it was a refreshing entry in the traditional first-person action-adventure genre. The game took players on a wild ride, parkour-style, across the tops of skyscrapers with Faith, its young protagonist.

The original Mirror's Edge laid out the basic story of a totalitarian government but really didn't dig much deeper. The next game in the franchise, a reboot called Mirror's Edge Catalyst, provides a bit more insight into what's really happening in the City of Glass and how Faith Connors got wrapped up in it.

In addition to the story trailer, EA and developer DICE revealed there will be a closed beta for gamers on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC through Origin. They're now accepting sign-ups over on the Mirror's Edge website although acceptance isn't guaranteed. If I had to guess, it's probably first come, first serve meaning if you are interested, I would get about signing up sooner rather than later.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is scheduled to land on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on May 24. As GameSpot recounts, the title was originally slated to launch on February 23 but producer Sara Jansson said it was pushed back to make the game as entertaining, impressive and memorable as possible.
