We've been waiting a while to get our hands on Tom Clancy's The Division. In 2014, it was announced that the game would be delayed until 2015; and in 2015, Ubisoft revealed that it wouldn't arrive for another year. The full game is officially being released on March 8, 2016, but for those who can't wait that long there's an official Beta starting later this month.

First spotted by WCCFTech, the Uplay mobile app lists an unlockable reward for The Division that clearly states the beta will take place in January. The reward is given to players who "Take part in the Tom Clancy's The Division Closed BETA in January 2016."

The reward is listed across the PC, PS4 and Xbox One, suggesting that the Beta will launch on all three platforms at the same time.

There was more Division news yesterday when a new trailer was revealed. The three-minute clip was initially released ahead of schedule by GameStop Italia and was quickly pulled, but not before it was mirrored across the web. This prompted Ubisoft to put an official, English version of the trailer on its YouTube channel.

While preview trailers don't always give a 100 percent accurate representation of what a title will be like when it's released, The Division clip does look promising. Ubisoft Massive's Snowdrop engine shows off some of the incredible lighting effects it's capable of producing, and the preview also reveals some of the high-tech gadgets and weapon customization options that will be available in the game.

The Division is an online, open-world shooter with gameplay described as being like Destiny in a third-person view. Set in New York in the middle of a pandemic, the game features several RPG elements such as loot and a progression system, alongside heavy PvP and co-op aspects.
