Google is starting to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Nexus users via an over-the-air software update. Specifically, those who own a Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 7 Mobile (2013), Nexus 9, Nexus 9 LTE, and Nexus Player can grab the the "sweetest, smartest Android version" yet starting today. Those who own a three-years old Nexus 4 will not be getting Marshmallow.

Google highlighted a few of Marshmallow's features at the company's Nexus event last week. Among the fresh new features are voice search from the lock screen, new app permissions for more granular control, improved battery life and charging, and Now on Tap, which lets you ask questions and get answers based on the context of the app that you are using at the moment.

Android 6.0 is also available to download manually if you just can't wait for that OTA notification. Just be aware that updating from a factory image will wipe your device clean, so make sure you save everything you need to keep first.

Motorola and HTC have already confirmed what devices will be getting an update to Marshmallow – which Lifehacker has compiled in a handy list – although there's nothing specific in the way of time frame aside from "in the coming weeks" and "by the end of 2015". Other manufacturers including Samsung and LG will likely announce their upgrade plans soon.
